Founding Board Member
Lauren Bruno is an Assistant Professor of Special Education at Washington State University. Lauren will always be an educator first and is a passionate life-long learner. Prior to making her way West - she first worked as a high school special educator in Virginia for 4-years before continuing on to earn her doctorate from Virginia Commonwealth University. She then followed her passion for teaching, research, and advocacy to Iowa where she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at University of Iowa REACH, supporting college aged students with disabilities. She continues this work at WSU and is thrilled to be a Coug, working to improve outcomes for transition-aged youth with disabilities. She works closely with pre- and in-service teachers and WSU ROAR, a 2-year inclusive postsecondary education program for students with intellectual disabilities. Lauren is passionate about educational research and policy and is thrilled to bring her expertise to PCM.
Lauren moved to Pullman in 2020 with her husband William and her most important role is being Mom to her 1-year old daughter Penelope (Poppy). Lauren enjoys yoga, being outdoors, playing with her dog (Wally), cooking, reading, and BravoTV. She is enjoying living in this part of this country and is eager to continue exploring the Northwest.
